The area of the stone containing the inscription is marred by cavities resulting from gunfire. It is likely that the script was damaged during military operations in the 1990s, as a photograph from the 1960s shows it in significantly better condition. While some suggest that the final line is a later addition, the paleographic characteristics of the letterforms indicate that it is contemporary with the primary text.
