By the power of God, this holy church was built in a bitter and difficult (unfavourable) time, (for) because of our sea-like sins the locusts came, ate this land of Aghvank' and destroyed many places, during the reign of Shah Suleiman, the lordship of Mirza Ghulipek and the rule over this land of Varanda of Melik Shahnazar, son of Melik Paghu, and with the assistance of Ovanis, and of the priests, and the householders, the great and the small. The inscription is carved across three of the blocks that form the church lintel. These stones exhibit visible pits caused by gunfire, which have resulted in damage to several of the characters.
