In the Armenian year 693 (=1244), I, Serob the deacon, a member of the holy fraternity, built the Chapel of the Holy Apostles upon the foundation of the earlier structure. Remember me in your prayers.

The lower section and edges of the tympanum—serving as a replacement for the lintel—are broken, resulting in the partial loss of the start of the final line. The script was generally executed by an untrained hand; consequently, the proportions of the letters and the spacing of the lines are irregular. Judging from the photograph, the stone's surface is significantly faded.
