This resting place (tomb) belongs to King Vachagan. May God have mercy on Hayrapet and on his parents, who built this church during the leadership of Ter Simeon. In the Armenian year 735 (=1286).
Ավանդության համաձայն՝ այս վանքում է ամփոփվել Աղվանից թագավոր Վաչագան Բարեպաշտը (510 թ.): Վանքի մատուռներից մեկը՝ եկեղեցու հյուսիսարևելյան կողմում, համարվում է նրա տապանատունը, որի ներսում նաև տապանաքար կա պահպանված: Վիմագրագետ Սեդրակ Բարխուդարյանը նշում է, որ ինչպես մատուռը, այնպես էլ տապանաքարը, բնորոշ են 13-րդ դարին, հետևաբար, ավանդույթի ուժով դրանք կառուցվել և տեղադրվել են ավելի ուշ: Ինչ վերաբերում է վիմագրին, ապա այն հետագայում ներկվել է կարմրով, որը սակայն տեղ-տեղ թափվել-խունացել է և, հատկապես, վերջին երեք տողերի միջնամասն ամբողջովին գունաթափ է:
According to tradition, the Albanian King Vachagan the Pious (d. 510) was interred in this monastery. One of the chapels, situated to the northeast of the church, is considered his mausoleum and contains a preserved tombstone. Epigraphist Sedrak Barkhudaryan notes that both the chapel and the gravestone are characteristic of the 13th century; consequently, they were likely constructed and installed later as an act of traditional memorialization. Regarding the inscription, it was subsequently polychromed in red, though the pigment has since flaked and faded, leaving the central sections of the final three lines entirely discolored.
