I, Vasak, grandson of Harbi, erected this cross (khachkar). I and my mother, (in memory) of my father Ashot. You who venerate (it), remember me in your prayers. In the Armenian year 643 (=1194).
Կոթողի արձանագրությունը, որոշ տարընթերցումներով, առաջին անգամ հրատարակել է Սամվել Կարապետյանը՝ նշելով նաև չափերը. 1,58 x 1,10 x 0,14 մ: 2004-2005 թթ. հնագետ Համլետ Պետրոսյանի ղեկավարությամբ վանքում իրականացված հնագիտական պետումների արդյունքում հայտնաբերվել են նաև խաչքարի որոշ բեկորներ, այդ թվում նաև՝ թվականակերտ տառերը կրող հատվածը: Խաչքարը մեծապես վնասվել է այլակրոն ադրբեջանցիների վայրագությունների հետևանքով: Արվեստի տեսանկյունից այն բացառիկ է իր տեսակում, քանի որ ողջ հորինվածքը ներկայացված է այգային՝ դրախտային միջավայրում, իսկ ստորին մասում տեղ գտած վարդյակը պատկերված է մեանդրային ձևավորումներով, որը նմանվում է փակ-լաբիրինթատիպ մի կառույցի, որի կետրոնում կարծես փակված լինի կաքավատիպ մի թռչուն:
The inscription on the stele was first published, with some variant readings, by Samvel Karapetyan, who also recorded its dimensions: 1.58 x 1.10 x 0.14 m. During the 2004–2005 archaeological excavations at the monastery, conducted under the leadership of Hamlet Petrosyan, several fragments of the khachkar were discovered, including the section bearing the date. The monument was heavily damaged due to acts of vandalism by Azerbaijanis. From an artistic perspective, the khachkar is unique; the entire composition is set within a lush, paradisiacal garden, while the rosette at the base features meander-like ornamentation resembling a closed labyrinth, at the center of which a partridge-like bird appears to be enclosed.
