Ամենակալ Աստծու՝ Հոր և նրա միածին Որդու՝ Հիսուսի Քրիստոսի շնորհով և ամենասուրբ Հոգու պարգևներով, ես՝ Արզուխաթունս, Քրիստոսի նվաստ աղախինս, մեծ իշխանաց իշխան Քրդի դուստրը, Հաթերքի և բոլոր Վերին Խաչենի տեր թագավորատոհմիկ Վախթանգի ամուսինը (կինը), մեծ հույսով կառուցեցի Սբ Կաթողիկես, իմ ամուսնու և զավակների՝ Հասանի՝ իմ անդրանիկի և երիտասարդ հասակում ի Տեր վախճանված Գրիգորի հանգստարանի տեղում: Իմ մեղքերի համար Աստված ինձ խրատեց (պատժեց) և իմ գլխից հեռացրեց երկու պսակներս (զավակներիս) վայելուչ, քանի որ իմ անդրանիկ (որդին)՝ Հասանը, քրիստոնեական հավատի համար սպանվեց թուրքերի հետ պատերազմի ժամանակ, իսկ երեք ամիս անց իմ կրտսեր որդին՝ Գրիգորը, կանչվեց Տիրոջից, կարծես բնությանը պարտք հատուցելով՝ վճարեց կյանքով և փոխեցան (հեռացան) ի Քրիստոս՝ անմխիթար սուգ թողնելով իրենց թշվառացած մորը: Բայց քանի որ նրանց կենդանության օրոք միտք էի տվել նրանց այստեղ եկեղեցի կառուցելու և չժամանեցին (չիրականացրին) իրենց արագահաս մահվան պատճառով, (ուստի) ինձ ավանդեցին անդարձ կատարելու նրանց սրտի փափագը և ես հանձն առա մեծ հույսով ու աշխատությամբ կառուցելու քավարանը նրանց հոգիների փրկության և իմ, և իմ դուստրերի և բոլոր տոհմակիցներիս համար: Եվ, աղերսելով հայցում եմ, որ երկրպագեք սուրբ խորանիս, հիշեք աղոթքս այստեղ վերոգրյալներին: Կատարեցավ (կառուցվեց) քավարանս Հայոց 663 (=1214) թվականին, ի փառս Աստծու և ի նորոգություն սուրբ ուխտիս: Եվ սահմանեցինք եկեղեցուս ժառանգությունը՝ գյուղս և ագարակս իրենց սահմաններով՝ Ապահենը և Եզնարածանցը և Բճանցը և Կանաչավորը, որը Վայոց ձորում է և երկու տուն Արփայում, և հաստատեցինք եղբայրներիս կամակցությամբ հանուն վերոգրյալների անխափան պատարագել ավագ խորանին: Եթե որևէ մեկն այս հաստատուն վճռիս խափանումն առնէ՝ տեղի իշխաններից կամ առաջնորդներից, կամ այլ որևէ մեկը, (թող) նրա հույսն առ Քրիստոս խափանվի և (թող) դատապարտվի Աստծուց:
By the grace of Almighty God the Father, of His Only-Begotten Son Jesus Christ, and by the gifts of the All-Holy Spirit, I, Arzukhatun, humble handmaid of Christ, daughter of the Great Prince of Princes Kurd, wife of Vakhtang, royal lord of Haterk and of all Upper Khachen, built this Holy Kathoghike with great hope, over the resting place of my husband and of my sons—Hasan, my firstborn, and Grigor, who departed unto the Lord in the flower of his youth. For my sins God chastened me and deprived me of my two fair crowns, my children. My firstborn, Hasan, was slain in battle against the Turks for the Christian faith, and three months later my younger son Grigor was called by the Lord, paying, as it were, the debt of nature with his life. Thus they departed in Christ, leaving their afflicted mother in inconsolable mourning. While they were still alive, I had resolved to build a church for them here; yet they were unable to fulfill this intention because of their untimely death. Therefore, they entrusted to me the irrevocable fulfillment of their heartfelt desire, and I undertook, with great hope and labor, to build this sanctuary for the salvation of their souls, as well as for my own, for my daughters, and for all my kinsmen. I earnestly beseech all who worship at this holy altar to remember in your prayers those mentioned above. This sanctuary was completed in the Armenian year 663 (=1214), to the glory of God and for the renewal of this holy monastery. We also established as the perpetual endowment of this church the villages and estates with all their boundaries: Apahen, Eznaratsants, Bjants, and Kanachavor in Vayots Dzor, together with two households in Arpa. With the consent of our brethren, we ordained that perpetual Divine Liturgy be celebrated at the high altar for the aforementioned persons. Should anyone—whether a local ruler, an abbot, or any other person—attempt to violate this irrevocable decree, may his hope in Christ be cut off, and may he be condemned by God.

This inscription represents a classical example of Armenian epigraphic art, carved with remarkable precision by a master engraver. Because of the characteristics of the stone and long-term weathering, the surfaces of several inscribed blocks have deteriorated through exfoliation, causing parts of the inscription to become illegible.
