(Հայոց) 1063 (=1614) թվին: Աստծու կամոք, ես՝ Մեծարանիս Տեր Սիմեոն կաթողիկոսս, կանգնեցրի սուրբ խաչս (խաչքարը) իմ հոգու փրկության (համար), որ երկրպագեք (աղոթեք), աղոթքում (ինձ) հիշեցեք:
In the Armenian year 1063 (=1614). By the will of God, I, Catholicos Ter Simeon of Metsaran, erected this holy cross (khachkar) for the salvation of my soul. Whoever venerats it (prays before it), remember me in your prayers.
Խաչքարի ստորին հատվածը նախատեսված է եղել վիմագիր կազմելու համար, որտեղ փորագրիչ-վարպետը զույգ տողագծեր է արել գրի համաչափությունը պահելու նպատակով: Վիմագրում հիշատակված է Սիմեոն կաթողիկոսի անունը, որը մինչև 1616 թ. գահակալած Աղվանից Սիմեոն Գ կաթողիկոսն է: Խաչքարը դեռևս նախորդ դարասկզբին նկարագրել և որոշ մանրամասներ է հայտնել Խաչիկ վրդ. The lower part of the khachkar was specifically prepared to accommodate the inscription; the engraver drew paired ruling lines on its surface to ensure the proportional arrangement of the text. The inscription records the name of Catholicos Simeon, identified as Simeon III, Catholicos of Aghvank, who occupied the patriarchal throne until 1616. The khachkar was already documented at the beginning of the 20th century by Vardapet Khachik Dadyan, who provided a description and noted several details concerning the monument (Dadean 1901, 139).
