English translation
In the year 1691, in the time of the great Persian king, Shah Suleiman, I, by the grace of God, Simeon, Catholicos of Albania, built this church together with my brother, the vardapet Ignatius; we are the sons of the priest Sargis of Metsshen. The sons of New Zion, as you enter and depart through the Lord’s door, remember us in your prayers to the Christ.

(Հայոց) 1140 (=1691) թվին, Պարսից մեծ արքայի`շահ Սուլեյմանի ժամանակ, ես՝ Աստծու շնորհով Աղվանից կաթողիկոս Սիմեոնս, շինեցի այս եկեղեցին, իմ հարազատ եղբոր՝ Իգնատիոս վարդապետի հետ, որ որդիներն ենք մեծշինեցի Սարգիս քահանայի։ Նոր Սիոնի որդինե՛ր, տերունական դռնով մտնելիս և ելնելիս, հիշեցեք (ի Քրիստոս ձեր) աղոթքներում։
Commentary
It is a finely executed inscription. Within the contours of certain letters, the engraver has depicted faces, a cross, and celestial luminaries—elements that undoubtedly carry symbolic meaning.
Վայելչագիր արձանագրություն է: Որոշ տառերի շրջանակի մեջ փորագրիչը դեմքեր, խաչ ու երկնային լուսատուներ է պատկերել, որը, անշուշտ, խորհրդաբանական հենք ունի:
