English translation
In the Armenian year 728 (=1279), during the patriarchate of Ter Atanas and the lordship of Dupi’s son, I, Ohan the priest, and Ohanes built the Church of St. Sargis, for the intercession of life and the salvation of souls. Whoever reads this, may he remember us: Pray to the Lord for Alaksianos.

(Հայոց) 728 (=1279) թվին, Տեր Աթանասի հայրապետության, Դուփի որդու
պարոնության օրոք, Ոհան երեցս եւ Ոհանեսս, շինեցինք Սուրբ Սարգիս (եկեղեցին),
(իբրեւ) կենաց (կյանքի) բարեխոս եւ հոգիների փրկություն: Ով կարդա, (թող) մեզ հիշի:
Ի Տեր հիշեցեք Ալաքսիանոսին:
Commentary
The church underwent a complete renovation in the 17th century. It is the fourth church in the village of Tsar and the second to bear the same name. On the surface of the inscribed lintel, some staining and minor fractures are visible in places.
Եկեղեցին հիմնանորոգվել է 17-րդ դարում: Ծարի նույնանուն երկրորդ, իսկ ընդհանուր՝ չորրորդ եկեղեցին է: Արձանագիր բարավորի մակերեսին տեղ-տեղ նշմարելի են բծեր, փոքր կոտրվածքներ:
